Big things are happening at our Airway Heights academy! We’re officially stepping into our next chapter as SMASH MMA/Jiu-Jitsu, expanding our MMA programs and creating more opportunities for students to train, grow, and compete.
Our beautiful 6,000-square-foot academy now features a newly installed MMA cage, giving our athletes a dedicated space to work on cage positioning, wrestling transitions, striking, and bringing their skills together. It’s an exciting addition that reflects the direction we’re heading—and the team we’re building.
Jiu-Jitsu remains a foundation of who we are. With our expanded MMA programs, students can build on that foundation while developing a more complete understanding of combat sports. Whether your goal is your first class, your first competition, or your next fight, we’re building a place where you can pursue it with knowledgeable coaching and teammates who push you to improve.
A Team Worth Watching
There’s a lot of talent coming through our doors, and the energy on the mats is building.
Our team includes professional fighter and BJJ black belt Noah Connors, whose technical skills, competitive drive, and ability to connect with younger students make him an important part of our academy. Noah brings the mindset of an athlete chasing big goals while helping the next generation take their own first steps.
We’re also excited about top prospect Orlando Morales and young phenom Cody Thornton—two names you’ll want to keep watching as they develop and pursue their goals. Alongside them is a growing group of athletes putting in the work and helping raise the standard in the room.
Our teens are already training hard, learning quickly, and getting ready to take their first steps into fighting. Their enthusiasm is exciting, but what makes us proud is how they listen, support one another, and keep showing up. As they prepare for competition, we’re focused on building strong fundamentals and making sure each athlete is ready for the challenge ahead.
The cage is new. The ambition is real. And the work is already underway.
Led by Adam “SMASH” Smith
At the heart of the program is Adam “SMASH” Smith, a professional MMA fighter with more than 35 MMA fights across the United States and Canada, a second-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, and an American Kenpo Karate black belt.
Adam brings firsthand experience from years of competition into his coaching—helping athletes understand the techniques, decisions, and composure that matter when the pressure is on. His coaching videos on Instagram have earned more than 2 million views, bringing attention to the instruction happening right here in our community.
As the owner of three academies, a Washington State CJTC Lead Defensive Tactics Instructor, and a former Firefighter/EMT with 12 years of service, Adam has spent much of his life teaching, leading, and helping others face difficult situations with confidence.
He also serves as Tournament Director for the nonprofit Spokane Submission Series, helping create competitive opportunities and support for dedicated youth athletes. That commitment carries into the academy: develop skilled fighters, build strong teammates, and give people the support to pursue something bigger.
