We brought our 3-year-old and 5-year-old to Smash BJJ and were blown away by the experience. From the very first class, both kids were fully engaged--listening, following directions, and performing surprisingly complex movements with focus and enthusiasm.
The instructors and Professor (Adam Smith) were incredibly patient, supportive, and knew exactly how to balance discipline with fun. It's rare to find a place where such young kids not only learn but thrive. Their confidence, coordination, and listening skills have all noticeably improved since starting.
Smash is the real deal--not just a martial arts gym, but a place that builds strong, respectful, and capable young humans. Highly recommend for any parents considering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for their little ones!

Adam Smith is the best BJJ instructor/coach in the Pacific Northwest. I have been attending classes at Smash BJJ for many years. I love the physical and mental challenge that it provides me. I am constantly learning something new and gaining more control over my body. I feel a deeper connection between what I intend to do and what I achieve in the moment. You learn a lot about yourself in the struggle. I can't express enough how beneficial it is for stress relief and an honest realization of how functional you are in an altercation. BJJ will humble you. I am 6'2.5" and 300lb and I am following along and doing things I did not think my body would let me. The first class is free! It's worth it. My nephew started at the young age of 3 in the #1 kids program available: The Little Dragons class. He is now turning 9 this year and still goes every single week. His older sister started a few years after him and she is about to turn 12. It has increased both of their ability to listen and think critically, and they have better coordination and confidence in themselves as people and athletes. They are very kind children. The environment provided is a safe space that promotes growth and wellbeing for all who attend. My daughter has been going for 3 years and has fallen in love with martial arts and the surrounding communities. She will be turning 15 soon and I sleep better at night knowing she has increased situational awareness from the time spent training Jiu Jitsu at the gym and from competing in tournaments. She has learned to enjoy challenging herself physically and mentally. Respect is learned. Integrity. Determination. Self belief. These are just a few of the phenomenal qualities instilled in my family from attending class at Smash Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The best school around. There are 3 locations. Spokane Valley, Airway Heights & Deer Park. Adam Smith leads a small tight knit team of instructors & coaches. Most notable among the list of exceptionally skilled athletes resides his Twin brother, Jacob Smith. This is a local, family run business. From ages 3 up to 100+. All are welcome. There is a class tailored for any skill level. You will receive a world class elite level black belt education at Smash Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Great environment! Great community๐ค

Great people and knowledge of the game of MMA ๐

The kids classes are great, the instructors are patient, and maintain discipline while making it fun. I knew I made the right choice to get involved here when they invited my 2 year old, who watches his big brother from the edge of the mat to join in class, and kept him engaged and exercising the whole class.

All our family can say about this place as wow!!! Having grandchildren that have grown up in very dysfunctional families, They are thriving here!! Respect ,honor, and hard work are what they teach to accomplish your goals!! Hard work pays off, and I can't thank Adam, Ashley, and Noah enough. They have great family rates and now offer Mauy thai. Our grandkids love this and its just what they need!!

Smash BJJ is a wonderful, welcoming, family friendly academy with fantastic instruction, helpful staff, and an all around great community. My children, myself and my husband all train with Professor Smith and have grown to love not only the art and sport of Jiu Jitsu but the community and friendships only a great program can foster. Prices are reasonable especially for the amount of training available at the three locations. It’s an amazing opportunity to have consistent instruction not only in one location but also the ability to flex to the other locations if your schedule requires it. I can not recommend the program enough.

The owner is a wonderful person with big heart, great patience and love for childrens and his team are so professional ! In my opinion, it's very cool when a person has a business that he loves, which captures him, he is ready to engage in a hobby as much as he wants and gets joy and pleasure from it. I admire these people ๐ I could not find any better martial art academy for my 3 year old son ๐
