Spokane is quietly building its next breakout MMA star—and his name is Noah Connors.
Known for his explosive athleticism and relentless work ethic, Noah has already earned a strong reputation as a rising force in the regional fight scene. With a solid background in Jiu Jitsu and MMA, he’s now taking his striking game to the next level—by training with legendary heavyweight boxer Chauncy Welliver.
But Noah didn’t just start from scratch.
His foundational striking was developed under Adam Smith, Spokane’s most respected martial arts coach and founder of SMASH BJJ. Under Adam’s guidance, Noah built his early reputation as a dynamic striker—known for his timing, footwork, and fearlessness. Those tools served him well in the cage, but as he sets his sights on the highest level of the sport, refinement is everything.
That’s where Chauncy comes in.
A former top-10 heavyweight with over 70 professional fights, Chauncy “The Hillyard Hammer” Welliver is now focused on coaching—and he sees something special in Noah.
“He’s already good—now we’re fine-tuning him to be great,” Chauncy says. “We’re working on patience, precision, and real professional-level boxing. The kid has the tools to go far.”
Training out of SMASH’s growing boxing program, the collaboration between Noah and Chauncy is a perfect mix of raw hunger and veteran knowledge. Their sessions are sharp, technical, and focused on building the kind of striking that translates in high-level MMA—clean, calculated, and devastating.
The Path Forward
Noah’s goals aren’t small. With his eyes firmly set on a spot in the UFC, every training session matters—and the team around him is making sure he’s prepared for that next step. Between Adam Smith’s proven coaching system and Chauncy’s world-class boxing insight, Noah is surrounded by mentorship few young fighters ever get.
He’s not just representing Spokane—he’s redefining what’s possible when a young athlete is given the right structure, guidance, and belief.
Keep your eyes on Noah Connors. Spokane’s next UFC fighter is already in the making.
